Another cardigan never goes amiss in a winter wardrobe, and this one will surely be a favorite. The lines of this garment are composed to give a tall and slender look to the body. The vertical placement of the lines of embroidered flowers and the rib pattern all give the body a slimmer appearance. Coupled with this, a slightly higher waist adds to this concept. The bands are worked in 1x1 rib and sports 6 large buttons to close.

The 5X1 ribbed pattern gives a ‘stretch’ to the garment and makes it more comfortable as there is more movement. The pattern starts at the base and worked all in one to the armhole, where it divides into fronts and back. This creates a smoother line all around the body without the interruption of a seam. Set in sleeves, fitting into the bodice, tend to sit better, give a more tailored look to a garment, as well as narrowing the frame across the shoulders.

The embroidery is done with wool, though you could do this in beads or embroidery threads and then match the buttons to the colors of the embroidery to give a ‘sparkly’ look. However evening look, or with your favorite jeans or skirt, this will be a winner for you.

A full detailed chart on Page Three of the pattern, gives full instructions for the daisy and leaf embroidery, which is very simple in Daisy chain and Lovers Knots.

As with all of Lynadell’s patterns, the instructions are fully detailed, with stitch count, row numbers, mark off boxes to keep your place, plus notes and comments throughout her well laid out pattern. Once you have used one of her patterns, you will know that any of her projects however hard they look, you too, will be able to make one for yourself in complete confidence.
