The Dakota Hat is a super easy and very fast knit. The only three stitches you need to know are: knit, k2tog, kfb. There is no seam since the hat is knit in the round. These features make it a great beginner’s pattern and a fabulous go to pattern for other knitters when you need to quickly make something that is thick and warm and as cute as a bug. The Dakota Hat is knit using two strands of #4 worsted weight yarn held together so it creates a nice thickness to hold in warmth and keep you snug in cold weather.

Options included in this pattern are 3 sizes, knitting in one color or in the color block shown in the pic, and making the hat longer into a slouchy hat. With a little bit of your own creativity, you can make hats in fun color blocks and use up that extra worsted weight yarn. The amounts of yarn needed for each section for the beanie are included as well as some ideas for combining colors.

The Dakota Hat is a fabulous stash buster.
