Introducing Dalloway, an early 1920s jiffy-knit blouse! This blouse is a really fun knit and fantastic for summer! It is work in an allover drop stitch pattern, with built in sleeves that are indicative of the early 1920s garment shape.
I studied a lot of 1920s knits while designing, and would put Dalloway at about 1922 - 1923 in terms of the fashions of the day. Trends were changing rapidly throughout the decade, but at this point the waistline was still a bit high and lightly defined. Dalloway uses a handmade twisted cord around the waistline that gives some shape to the garment and a little pop of color! There are directions in the pattern for how to create this if you’ve never made one before. This pattern really has it all:

  • Super easy, beginner friendly project (but fun enough for a seasoned knitter too!)
  • Uses less yarn than most garments
  • Fingering weight BUT on size US 6 4 mm needles
  • Breathable fabric, and wonderful for all four seasons!
  • No setting in sleeves(!!) and very little seaming overall!
  • An excellent option for all you plant-based yarn lovers and warm climate folks!
  • May fulfill all your Downton Abbey / Babylon Berlin / Great Gatsby / Bloomsbury artists / general 1920s fashion dreams ✨
  • Can be knit in 24 hours!!
