Inspired by the Dahlia flower yet still crisp and modern, this granny square pattern is sure to thrill beginner and experienced crocheters alike.

Dally Dahlia is based mainly on clusters of Treble Crochet (Double Crochet if you’re used to US terms). If you’re new to those, this is a great pattern for you because you’ll get lots of practice! Each step is illustrated with photos to help you.

The pattern I’ve linked to makes a 10x10 cm (4”x4”) square if the suggested yarn (DMC Natura Just Cotton) is used, but this can easily be sized up by using either a heavier yarn than stated or by adding several more rounds of granny trebles. Remember to change your hook size accordingly.

The shades of Natura Just Cotton I’ve used are Ivory, Aswan, and Gris Argent for the neutrals, and Blue Jeans, Brique, Jade and Amaranto for the contrast colours (less than 1 skein required for each colour). By using 100% cotton yarn, the resulting square is durable and can be machine washed.

Skill level: Easy to Intermediate

Instructions are available in UK and US terms and include step-by-step photos. You can purchase a beautifully laid-out, printable PDF of the pattern here on Ravelry, or you can view it for free on my blog.
