“Damini” (lightning in Hindi) is a rectangular lace shawl featuring a zigzagging stitch pattern that resembles a streak of lightning in the monsoon sky. The sample was knit using a hundred-percent merino laceweight yarn (Reticule by Mrs. Crosby Loves to Play) on US size 4 (3.5mm) needles, and measures 89” x 29”.

A single repeat of the stitch pattern is worked across 31 stitches and 92 rows. The yarn-overs and accompanying decreases are worked on the right side only and every alternate row is a rest row. The stole can be made wider or narrower, longer or shorter by adding or leaving out pattern repeats.

This is a charted pattern.
