Top-down socks with a picot cast-on, a short-row heel, and a star toe. The socks are intended to give the effect of dancing slippers with fancy stockings – and unlike the slippers of the Twelve Dancing Princesses, these can be darned if you dance so much that you wear a hole in them!

To fit foot circumference of 7 ½ (8 ¼) inches (19 20 cm)

Experienced lace knitters may notice that the decreases in this stitch pattern slant the opposite way than they usually would. This is because the socks are knitted from the top down, but when they’re worn, the lace pattern will be seen upside down.
