A cowl with a difference! This is a simple, yet elegant, way to make the most of single skeins in your stash – and show off your vintage buttons, too.

This pretty cowl features a lacy pattern at one end, and a wide slot on the other end. The decorative end pulls through the slot and is fastened with buttons. The buttons use holes in the lace in lieu of buttonholes.
There is short-row shaping so that the lower edge is wider than the top edge. (Instructions are provided for the short-row technique.)
