I entered these fingerless mitts in the DC State Fair knitting contest--and I won a blue ribbon!

I made my pair with a light fingering wool held double (on 4’s), but I have since used a worsted weight yarn (with 6’s) and both were great. I have pretty small hands, and the worsted weight makes them a little bigger. You can also go up a needle size or two to adjust the fit.

This used very little yarn, so it could be a great project for scraps, or you should have enough left to also make a hat.
