de Broglie is a gentle and simple knitting project showcasing the smooth pattern of stockinette stitch accentuated by bands of seed stitch, all housed in a border of picot. It’s the perfect pattern for newer shawl knitters to expand their skills, and for more experienced knitters who are looking for a fun filler project.

Louis de Broglie (1892-1987) was a French Physicist whose groundbreaking contributions to the field of quantum mechanics continue to be an integral aspect of modern physics. Most notable is his work regarding the wave-particle duality, where he hypothesized that electrons must be transported by a wave into which it is incorporated. He was methodical and confident in his capabilities. This pattern pays homage to his legacy.

Kristen is a second year Physics and Mathematics major at UBCO. She enjoys investigating string theory whilst knitting, and names her patterns after scientists that inspire her.

Note: my de Broglie is knit with yarn I was gifted- without a tag! I have suggested using Shibui Knits Baby Alpaca as a replacement, but any DK yarn will work be perfectly :)
