My second design in my colors of the Valley Yarn Superwash DK, designed with Manos and WEBS yarn.

With Deauville, I wanted to a fitted lace beanie, with a feel that was both bold and feminine - something almost textural was what I had in mind. This icy blue shade, paired with a dense herringbone lace, is exactly that!

The lace is quite simple to work, but has such strong diagonal lines that they create a lovely texture. The fabric pulls down quite a bit when knit up, so the overall fee of the lace is not as open as other lace motifs, after all this IS a hat, and should keep your head warm!

The ribbing on the brim plays off the herringbone lines, accenting the strong V shape in the body of the hat, and the crown detail swirls right around to bring things in. It’s a quick knit, and a classic design, but the pale blue makes it feel quite modern - I also think this would work nicely with a pompom.
