This 1930s inspired cardigan, with a slipped-stitch pattern reminiscent of the set-back facades of Art Deco skyscrapers, is worked in one piece from the bottom-up. The sleeves are set in seamlessly, working short rows from the top-down.

To fit bust 1(31), 2 (34), 3(36), 4(38), 5(40), 6(42), 7(44), 8(46), 9(48), 10(50) inches

Yarn and yardage: approximately 1(900), 2(950) 3(1000), 4(1050), 5(1100), 6(1150), 7(1200), 8(1250), 9(1280), 10(1300) yards of a light sportweight, heavy 4 ply, or light DK yarn that knits to gauge. Though the cardigan is worked on 3mm needles, I don’t recommend using a light fingering-weight yarn for this pattern—the fabric should be worked quite densely to allow the slipped stitch pattern to retain definition. My original sample was knit in Blacker Designs Corriedale in the olive colourway. The Corriedale is a very sheepy woollen yarn, but other fibres work well, too: the test knitters’ samples were worked in Artesano Inca Cloud (alpaca) and Araucania Itata (silk/bamboo).
