The classic stitch pattern, also found on the corresponding Plum Island Pullover, makes an attractive sweater for men. It is knit in the round from the bottom up.

• Stitch holders
• Tapestry needle

Note: The sample photographed was knit by a sample knitter whose row gauge changed between swatching and knitting. The stitch gauge is the same as given in the pattern (16 stitches to 4”), but the row gauge in the sample is 21½ rows to 4”, instead of 25. Because the sample knitter used the exact stitch and row counts for the size 42½“ sweater, but at a different row gauge, the length measurements of the sample are different than those indicated in the pattern. Following the pattern as written (at the row gauge given) will yield a sweater with measurements that match the schematic, not the photo.
