In fifteen blog posts I walk you through the process of how to design and knit your own unique aran cardigan. The general shape is hip-length and boxy with a knitted-in modified drop shoulder. The entire construction is seamless, with a perpendicular join at the underarms. The body is knitted from the bottom up, then the sleeves are worked from the top down. You’ll learn how to put together cable patterns, choose filler stitches, avoid cable splay, calculate neck shaping and so much more. This is the perfect project for experienced knitters looking for a bit of knitting adventure.
I used 4 skeins of Topsy Farms Worsted for a 36” finished bust, 18” finished length. I look forward to seeing your cardigans.
