This is a modern cloche designed as a simple knit for beginners and those more advanced alike.

Skill Level – Beginner
Yarn – 2 skeins of DK Alpaca in Black from Blacker Yarns. 110m/120 yards per 50g/1.76oz skein
Alternatives could include wool and wool blends, but bear in mind that these may not have the same elasticity as Alpaca, so may knit differently.
Finishing Materials – 40mm/1 ½ inch button. I used an enamelled coconut shell button I picked up at a show.
A tapestry needle.
Stitch markers where necessary.
Needles – 4mm/US6/UK8 circulars on a 60cm/24” cord and 4mm dpns for decreasing.

Finished Hat to Fit – 20-22 inch head circumference. Gauge 4 stitches per inch.
