“Devon is a superhero whose alter ego is The Peacock (because she can fly, but not very far or very fast). She is not a very showy dresser, but tends to favor peacock colors in her wardrobe. This empire tunic, with its pale turquoise bodice and variegated skirt, complements Devon’s down-to-earth lifestyle admirably.”

Other materials needed: 6/0 seed beads in choice of color.

The tunic is knit from the top down, so the skirt portion can be made any length. Stitches used are stockinette, k1p1 rib, k2p2 rib. It is assumed that the knitter can increase and decrease, as well as pick up stitches.

Possible Yarn Substitutions:

Bodice: I’d recommend using Jojoland’s cashmere/silk, because it’s a true solid, whereas the Jade Sapphire (which I simply grabbed because it was in my stash) is semi-solid.

Brown: the Opal is discontinued, so any brown sock yarn (such as Cascade Heritage or Simply Socks) will work.

Tencel: Any fine, smooth yarn (like a cotton, silk or tencel weaving yarn, like this is) will work. You may prefer to use a solid color that coordinates with your sock yarn.
