Create a beautiful stole type shawl or throw blanket using this granny square crochet pattern. The shawl version can be worn like a scarf or used as a table runner. Each square is made individually then attached together using a slip stitch seam. The throw blanket is perfect to keep you cozy on those chilly winter nights. The stole can be worn on any occasion. Make the white version as a gift for a bride to be. The photo shows one made using a silky bamboo yarn.
I noticed an X pattern forming when I made a plain granny square . I wanted to try to make a square with a more defined X . When I put the squares together I saw the solid areas formed a diamond and I really liked the effect.
The throw measures 54 x 62 inches, 137 x 157 cm. It is made using medium weight (4) yarn. The stole/table runner/scarf measures 18 x 70 inches, 46 x 178 cm and uses light weight (3) yarn. A fringe adds a few more inches.
I would classify this as an easy pattern. The stitches used are: slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet. The pattern is written tutorial style with step by step photos. As with all my patterns, please contact me if you have any problems.
