Knits, purls, and yarn overs, oh my!

Diamonds utilizes all three to create a fun, engaging pattern on a very slouchy hat. The diamond pattern provides visual interest and makes for a very stretchy fabric.

Diamonds can be knit as a super slouchy hat that can hold your ponytail or as a tighter slouchy hat perfect for when your hair is down.

The hat as pictured is super slouchy, with a cast on 120 stitches. For a tighter slouchy hat, you’ll begin with only 96 stitches. A chart of the diamond pattern is provided, as well as written instructions.

Yarn: Malabrigo Rios superwash wool, 210 yards per 3.5 ounces; Color: 052 Paris Night; 1 skein

Needles: US size 4 (3.5mm) 16” circular; US size 6 (4mm) 16” circular; and a set of US size 6 (4mm) DPNs

Notions: You’ll need one stitch marker to demarcate the beginning of the row. If you’d like to mark between the diamond motifs, you’ll want 7 to 11 more, depending which version you’re working.

Gauge: 6 stitches and 7 rows in pattern = 1”

Finished Measurements: 10” from brim to crown
