This bag is not felted, it is made out of machine washable acrylic yarn. Because knitting can have a soft and not have a very sturdy finish, I have built this bag using plastic canvas on the bottom and sides to give a stronger foundation. Since the bag will be lined, the plastic canvas will not be visible when opened. Acrylic is machine washable and dryable and I would probably recommend that this bag be dried on either low knit or no heat.

The bag does have magnetic snaps that are located on each side of the top and on the front bottom on the changing station. Presently, I have added velcro to help the square out the sides when the bag is closed and for cosmetic appearance. But since I purchased some upholstery samples, I believe that if I secure the fabric to the changing station that there will be plenty of support and the velcro will not have to be used.

Two side pockets are located on the outside sides of the bag with flaps that will close using velcro.

The bag is lined.

I’m using a cable stitch for the straps and handle, I love how it is turning out. 14 sts: Row 1: K, sl 2 sts to cable needle (cn), hold to front, k, K2 from cn
Row 2: sl 1 st to cn, hold to back, k2, k from cn.

Problems: I glued buttons over the magnetic snaps. I found that using a flat bottom button lays better over the snap than one with the male sewing section.

It is very important to pay close attention to the gauge. There is no left over yarn when it comes to the Lions Brand Super Soft Acrylic when finishing the side pockets and tops/flaps.

Also, my cat is not happy since she likes to sit on my lap when I knit or crochet and this project fills my lap - sorry no room Skippy.

This diaper bag features a changing station for baby. This is a beautiful diaper bag and will be a WOW factor for anyone that is priveleged enough to receive it. If you do a search on google for diaper bags you will see that manufactured diaper bags similar to this one, are priced well over $150 dollars.
