Due to the temporary closure of a business, all my self published designs with costs are set on inactive, and only available in a gifted pattern swap. This means the design you like is sent to your Ravelry library in exchange for a gifted pattern from my WISHLIST bundle. A re-opening is not scheduled at this moment.

The Dicentra Shawl is number three of the Hidden Flowers Collection and tells a story of silvery dewdrops on Bleeding Heart flowers. This sweet little shawl comes with written and charted instructions. There will be additional charts and instructions for a stockinette point edge, a garter point edge, a rounded picot edge, a ruffled edge, and an alternative setup for an all over flower shawl without garter stitch.

Yarn weight: Everything from Lace to DK and a needle size to obtain gauge.

Sample sizes and yardage:

  • nude/pale pink sample: approx. 125 cm / 49.25” wingspan and 34 cm / 13.5” depth, 205 sts body, chart 1 twice, 233.2 m / 255.0 yds in Colour A, 135.8 m / 148.5 yds in Colour B, 370 m / 402 yds total, 131 beads
  • anthracite/blackberry/fjord sample: approx. 140 cm / 55.5” wingspan and 45 cm / 17.75” depth, 211 sts body, chart 1 four times, 162.25 m / 176.9 yds for body and border stripes (double stranded is 324.5 m / 353.7 yds), 352.2 m / 385.1 yds for flower stitch / lace, 515 m / 560 yds total, 247 beads

To be safe, prepare a bit more yardage. The final yardage depends on your chosen size, placement / amount of the flower stitch and knitting tension. The gauge is not so important for this shawl, but use a needle size that gives you a pleasing mesh structure for your yarn. I knit very tight, so if you don’t, you may want to use a scale to check your used yardage regularly. You can find my project details in my project notes on Ravelry (project: “Dicentra” and “Nocturnal Dicentra” by Rahymah).
