This cowl was inspired by the “Difference Engine”, designed by Charles Babbage in the early 19th century and arguably the world’s first computer - you can find out more on Wikipedia.

It uses stranded colourwork and knit/purl textures to give the impression of the gears and cogs of this early calculator. It can be made for a man or woman and use any colour combination to create different effects.

The main colourwork section is CHARTED ONLY.
