Designed to show off the beauty of a hand-dyed yarn, Diminishing Returns uses alternating sections of stockinette and garter to add texture to a great dye job.

This shawl is worked from the top down, starting with a garter tab (for a which a separate photo tutorial is included with the pattern). To knit this pattern, you need to know how to:

  • knit and purl,
  • do a provisional cast on (using any method),
  • do directional increases (m1L and m1R), and
  • pick up stitches along a garter edge (for the garter tab).

Although the sample was worked using two skeins of the same color, this pattern could easily be modified to use two different colors.
