The Disir shawl is part of the beautiful and unique Danish knitting book named Sjaler Nordfra (litteral translation: Shawls from the North) inspired by the wild Nordic nature and the stories of the creatures that live there.

Hopefully it will also soon be part of the English version, which will be named Nordic Shawls – please feel free to spread the word about this Kickstarter :)

Dísir are female spirits in Norse mythology. They are always described in groups, and preside over fates, give fertility, and guard people and places. The Valkyrie, the Fylgje, and the Nornes are dísir.
