This is the perfect shawl for those single skein or leftover yarns you don’t really know what to do with. DIY stands for design it yourself. There is a full pattern included, but also a method of choosing whatever cable and lace patterns you like. depending on the thickness of your yarn you will end up with either a dainty piece for your neck, a shlankety cosy to wrap yourself in when curling up in the couch or something in between.

You need three different yarns: one single or three (or more) ply for your cable strip, preferably single colour, one slightly thinner yarn (or the same thickness) for the garter part (this one is perfect for a multicoloured yarn) and last a much thinner yarn for the lace part.

You start with the cable part and then pick up the stitches for the garter part and lace border on either side of the cable strip.
