This is an excellent template for fingerless mitts. You can pick any pattern that has 17 stitches in it and knit it into the back of your mitts. You can also make them as long or as short as you’d like. You can use a wider or narrower pattern and adjust the mitt template accordingly. For example, you could place the 15-stitch Butterfly Panel from our Swatch section (page 48) and add a knit or purl stitch on either side of the pattern to make 17. If you use the 18-stitch Flower Panel, you can decrease the knit section after the pattern by one stitch.
