I am a bit of a BBC Sherlock fangirl, so these socks, modeled after John Watson’s Christmas sweater in Season 2, make me ridiculously happy. I decided to share my pattern for free so other fans can also be ridiculously happy.

Here I have given instructions for my cuff-down, 72-stitch sock with a standard slipped-stitch heel flap, using larger needles for the colorwork sections (to make up for lack of stretchiness). Feel free to modify your stitch-count, needle sizes, heel and/or toe to get a great fitting sock. For the leg colorwork section you will need to have a stitch count divisible by both 4 and 6. At the gusset you may reduce to a number divisible by 6 for the last colorwork section.

Yarn amounts given here are estimates. In the pattern you will find yarn amounts given which are based on my sample pair. If you want a taller/longer pair you will need more of the main color (dark blue).

MC: dark blue, 200-300yds
CC1: red, 50-75yds
CC2: white, 40-60yds
