Dog Bone Illusion Knit by Kimberly Kwon

Dog Bone Illusion Knit

This pattern is available for free.

This pattern is of a dog bone - I did not like the pet paw chart I had originally included in the file. I am reworking the pet paw and will add the pattern as its own download later.

To minimize curled edges, you can add a single crochet edge to entire scarf. I suggest that you also place the scarf under a towel and lightly steam iron over the edges where the pattern appears. Be careful not to flatten any of the purled stitches or the illusion will be less visible and disappear.

These photos are of my sample swatch, which shows the dog bone in alternating contrast colors. A dark or bright colored bone shows the image better than the traditional light color “white” bone. This sample has two rows of single crochet edge.

Do as many repeats of the pattern for your scarf, but make sure you have several plain knitted rows in between each image for the best effect.
