The title is “Doll’s Hats and Bags” in the McCall’s Needlework & Crafts. It is “Spring Accessories” in Doll Fashions.

This pattern includes a collection of hats and bags.

Materials: All items except #8, the White Beaded Bag, call for Swistraw and a #2 hook. Swistraw is a vintage rayon raffia material that produces a straw-like appearance. Each item can be made with less than one 24-yard skein of Swistraw.

The White Beaded Bag requires any #10 crochet thread. For the bottom of the bag, the pattern calls for a round, plastic, single-serving jelly container. This bag also requires 16 beads with a center hole that the #6 hook can pass through.

Embellishments of your choice may be added to any of the hats and bags.

Item List:

  1. Red Pillbox - a basic pillbox hat made top-down and in-the-round in single crochet

  2. Beige Cloche - a basic cloche made top-down and in-the-round in single crochet

  3. Pink Pillbox - a smaller pillbox with star-stitch sides; worked top-down and in-the-round

  4. Open Crown Hat and Matching Bag - These are the same pattern worked in single crochet. The differences are that the hat is open on the narrow end, which has contrast trim, while the bag is sewn shut on the narrow end. The bag also has handles sewn to the wide end.

  5. Lavender Garden Party - a flat crown with a shell-stitch brim

  6. Red Sailor - a flat crown with a round brim, worked in single crochet

  7. Pink Veil Hat - a smaller version of the Beige Cloche with a 3”x 9” piece of tulle gathered and sewn to the top

  8. White Beaded Bag - crocheted in a mesh pattern with a picot edge; drawstring ties are worked separately; bottom edge fits around the plastic cup that forms the base of the bag

All items are sized for Barbie-type dolls.
