Doll's Open Knit Stockings

by Weldons

The pattern is from the 24th series of Weldon’s Practical Knitter, which came out in 1893.

’The pretty stocking shown in the engraving is worked upon two no. 15 steel needles with Andalusian wool in two colours, pale blue and seal brown, and it has been very much admired, for these colours blend so nicely together, and the shape of the stocking is excellent. Of course not very much wool is required, less than half an ounce of pale blue will suffice, and a still smaller quantity of seal brown, which is only used at the top of the leg and for the toe.’
