Chart for fingerless mittens added 4/11/13!!!

Doodling kept me from saying and doing things that would get me in trouble during classes when I was a kid, and in meetings when I grew up. In the margins of my papers and lecture notes, these fractal-like trees grew and crept around half-hearted attempts at note taking.

These mittens are constructed differently than traditional stranded colorwork mittens. Doodle mittens are knit as three repeats of an interlocking pattern. If knit with four double-pointed needles, each of the three needles holding stitches holds one complete repeat of the chart.

Yarn: Kauni Effektgarn (approximately 25 g of each color), Malabrigo Arroyo (approximately 40 g of each color), or any sport weight.

Needles: Double pointed or circular needles in any size that will achieve gauge. I used Size 1.5 US (2.5mm) for the Kauni or size 2 US (2.75mm) for the Arroyo.
