When my granny was a little girl (which would have been back in the 1910s or early 1920s), when she was given some sweets for a treat, they would always come in a little “Dorothy bag”, and this was the most special moment of the week. So, she explained, she always associated the name Dorothy with a touch of luxury.
These little bags can be knitted up quickly and take a tiny amount of yarn (5-10 g of DK), and you can make them bigger or smaller depending on what you want to put in them! They would make great bags for wedding favours, little girls’ party gift bags or Christmas presents. The instructions given are an appropriate size for beads or sweets; make them bigger for soap or little bottles of toiletries.

This pattern has now been test-knitted and, as you can see, lends itself really well to a spot of embellishment!

Although the pattern itself must not be reproduced, items made from this pattern may be sold at craft fairs or charity stalls.

If you do knit this pattern, please post a project & photos on Ravelry so others can see your work!
