Years ago I made a scarf with a deep ruffle surrounding an oblong of double crochet. When wrapped twice around the neck it reminded me of the sort of ruffs seen in portraits of Queen Elizabeth I. Two rounds of bobbles on chains in a very rich color of slightly crinkly cotton give a similar yet softer effect. Fold the scarf in half lengthwise, put it around your neck from back to front, and pull the ends through the loop—pretty!
