Knitted using the brioche or double knitting technique, this scarf has two layers, each worked in a different colour and it’s very warm.

You will need between 50g and 100g of two different colours of yarn; I used a plain, dark purple for one and a variegated autumnal yarn for the other. I have used aran weight yarns for my scarf but instructions are included for adapting the pattern for other weights of yarn.

This is not a simple pattern and requires a fair bit of concentration to get the hang of the stitch pattern. The pattern gives you lots of tips for working it though, as well as advice on how to ‘read your knitting’.

If you want to explore the world of brioche knitting further, I would recommend Nancy Marchant’s excellent books which were the inspiration for this scarf.

All my ravelry patterns are free to download but, if you enjoy them, please consider making a donation to the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, a charity which funds research and supports the families of children with a liver disease. Happy Knitting!
