Doubly Warm Rainbow Hat

Spin-Off, Fall 2005

Romney lock/Merino blend and domestic, medium grade, wool top. Hand spun.
Worsted / 10 ply (9 wpi)
4 stitches and 8 rows = 1 inch in garter stitch
US 8 - 5.0 mm

The hat is double thick (two layers nest with each other) and reversible. A rainbow striped brim holds the two dome-shaped crowns together. It is very similar to the “Reversible Hat” by the same designer.

The yarn should have a light bouncy feel.

The pattern includes dyeing instructions.

For a two-color brim, allow 85 yards of each color, for three colors, 50 yards of each color, for 6, 30 yards each, and for a seven color brim allow 25 yards of each color. For the crowns, allow 70 yards additional yarn in each of two colors.
