Downtown Burnsville features Downtown Cowl and Burnsville Shawl. My favorite LYS is along the way to the dentist, so we always leave a bit early and stop by to see Wendy at Yummi Yarns. An old-fashioned building with brick walls and worn hardwood floors is enlivened with brilliantly colored yarn, hand made art pieces, and local mountain crafts. Knitting or crocheting at the social center is Wendy, the owner of Yummi Yarns. The last time I was in, a rare find of cotton and linen caught my eye among all the gorgeously dyed wool. In honor of my friend Wendy and as a farewell to my favorite NC LYS, I designed Downtown Cowl and Burnsville Shawl with 3 skeins from her shop paired with her favorite cable pattern, Air Bender (without the drops), from my shop.

Downtown Cowl allows the self-striping yarn to unintentionally pool across gentle cables. This easy (not beginner) level pattern is offered in two sizes for a snug turtleneck fit or a looser fashionable style.
