My brave friend I designed this pattern for has lost her battle with cancer. She was only 32.
This pattern is now free, like my friend Yvette. Free from suffering, free to fly with dragons.

Larger size Dragon’s Hope

Work as per original pattern for dragon scale body but repeat Row 5 and 6 until you have 209 stitches.

Set up wings as per pattern

Row 1: k2, yo, DS x3, (m1, DSx8) x6, m1, sm, k1, sm, m1, (DSx8, m1)x6, DS x3, yo, k2

As you can see the ( )x5 has changed to x6

Carry on doing 6 repeats per side.

I still had yarn left after row 29 so I continued in pattern for a few more rows, continuing to increase on the edges and keep the increases and decreases as established. How much you do will determined by the yardage you have.

I finished with 4 rows garter stitch as the longer wings section may curl being mostly stocking stitch.

Cast off as per pattern.

Second of my Game of Thrones inspired shawls

This shawl was designed for a friend of mine with cancer. She loves dragons and fantasy so this seemed to be the right gift as she started treatment. I wrote the Emily Dickenson quote in the card when I gave it to her.

The colour and style was inspired by The Game of Thrones Picture of Daenerys Targaryen, The Mother of Dragons and her newly hatched dragon. She found a strength inside her she never knew she had and fighting cancer needs this strength.

This pattern includes extensive notes about how to make the self stripe sections of the yarn equal sizes as the shawl grows. This prevents the colour bands getting narrower which was important for this design.

Knit top down in dragon stitch and then dragon wing border with points. Pattern has written instructions for the body and both written and charted instructions for the edge.

Would suit both a self stripe or semi solid colour.
