The Drake Snake shawl comes in two versions. One is comprised of two contrasting yarns of fingering weight. It can be knitted with two solid colors, one solid and one of gradient color, and even with two color gradients.

I used Tosh Merino Light by Madelinetosh for this version. I hadn’t knitted with this yarn before and I like the quality so much, that I plan to do some more patterns with this particular brand.

The other version is designed for a yarn with a color gradient. For this one I used Mini Mochi by Crystal Palace Yarns. IMO the best yarn you can get if you want to knit with a decent color gradient.

For the two colored version two skeins of 3.5oz/100g each are required. If you fancy a shawlette you can knit the gradient version with only 3.5oz/100g. You can also apply this pattern to any yarn weight you like, however you might need more yarn.

The Drake Snake is a modular knit. Everything will be joined as you go, so there is no seaming involved. All instructions are charted and written. You will find ample photo tutorials to help you with the technique.

Happy knitting!
