DRESSING GOWN TO KNIT BY HAND OR MACHINE

lt grows with your child.

Here’s a practical knitting pattern that keeps pace with fast-growing youngsters. First, you make the basic dressing gown style, and later add one or two bands of color at the hem and sleeve ends to match the contrasting belt and borders.

Materials: Woolworth’s St. Mark 8-ply — 19 balls main color (m.c.), 4 balls contrast color (c.c.) for bands and belt, 5 balls contrast color (c.c.) for knitted extensions. 5 balls contrast color (c.c.) for crochet extensions, 7 balls for second extensions; 1 pair No. 8 knitting needles, 4.00mm (No. 8) crochet hook.

Measurements To fit 61cm to 66cm — 24 to 26in chest; length of basic garment 68.5cm (27in); sleeve 25.5cm (10in).

Tension: 6 sts. and 8 rows to 2.5cm (1in) (for machine, leave yarn out of tension guide).
