Drifting Daisies Lace Scarf
On this reversible garter stitch scarf, lace daisies drift down, reminding me of artist Andy Goldsworthy’s floating flowers. Simple increases and decreases slant the stitches and highlight the beauty of semi-solid color yarns on this asymmetrical shallow triangle.
Beginning with a few stitches at one end, the scarf increases every other row to a cast-off edge that forms the triangle’s slightly shorter second side. The lace repeats over 6 stitches and 12 rows, so it is easy to memorize. Since the scarf can be cast off at the end of any 12-row repeat, it also is easy to customize the size.
Designed for fingering weight yarns, it also can be knit in a variety of lace and Shetland/sport/DK weight yarns.
