Duara means circle in Swahili -- this pattern is from a collection inspired by the intricate woodcarvings adorning hundreds of doors in Zanzibar’s Stone Town that will be coming out later this year. You can read more about the doors and see some examples here.

Both written and charted instructions for the interlocking circle motif are included and you may work from either as you prefer.

Sizes: One Size measuring roughly 9” x 66” / 23 cm x 167.5 cm

The yarn used in the sample stretches considerably with wet blocking. Due to the varying nature of different yarns and fiber blends, some variations in length and width may occur depending on the yarn used.

Yarn Requirements: Approximately 550 yards / 503 meters sport weight superwash wool.

Sample shown in Cascade, 220 Superwash Sport (100% Superwash Merino Wool & 136 yards / 124 meters per 50g) Colorway: silver grey; 4 hanks.

Needles and Notions: US size 6 / 4 mm 12” / 30 cm straight needles.

3 stitch markers, tapestry needle, removable stitch marker (optional).

Techniques used: Tubular cast on and bind off.
