These legwarmers, with the flared bottom cuff, will give good coverage of the entire ankle joint. Perfect if you’re out in the cold or, like me, you have tetchy ankles that just can’t stand a draft.

This pattern was inspired by the book Monstrous Regiment, written by my favorite author, Terry Pratchett. Many of the characters in that book have names that inspire designs - this one, inspired by Colonel Legin’s falsification of military records to keep Jackrum in the Borogravian Army - so more ‘little lads’ can say they Kissed the Duchess. It is started from the bottom and the flare is knitted in through two sets of decreases before you begin the XOX cable.

Terry Pratchett has been writing since he was a teen and had his first book published in 1971. A very prolific author, his books, especially those in the Discworld Series, have sold over 45 million copies and have been translated into 33 language. In 2007, at the age of 59, he was diagnosed with a very rare form of Alzheimer’s disease known as posterior cortical atrophy, or PCA. There is currently no known cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
