Original directions call for sewing silk and fine knitting needles.

Cast on 8 stitches, knit 1 round, then follow chart III (Typensatz III) rounds 3-63.

Note: In all plain rounds except round 64, knit each double yarnover as a single stitch.
In round 64 only, purl then knit into the double yarnover.

Round 65 is a crochet cast-off:

Take three knitted stitches off at a time (all around) and crochet chains of 5 stitches between each group of three knitted stitches.

The finished work is pinned out and blocked.
