Introductory offer: On the first weekend of publishing (10th/11th of February 2024) you can purchase Ducks on Silent Waves at a discount of 20% - no coupon code required.

Ducks on Silent Waves was created for Dibadu Funnies Twisty Silk Lace combined with Schoppel Edition 6. Of course, you can use other yarns as well. I recommend that you choose two different colors that go well together but that are distinguishable enough to make out the design. Two solids, two color gradients, a solid combined with a gradient, all these combinations will work nicely.

Also, you can choose any yarn weight you like. As to the yardage, this will depend on the size your Ducks on Silent Waves is supposed to be. There are three versions available: small (rather for a toddler, doll, or toy), medium, and large. There is a Waxing and a Waning part, so you can knit along until you have used 50% of your yarns weighed together and then decide on the size.

I knitted one version with one skein of Twisty Silk Lace combined with two balls of Schoppel Edition 6 (depth 13”/33cm - length 84”/213cm).I knittied a second version pairing two Zauberballs by Schoppel and used 766y/700m of each color for a shawl with 15”/38cm depth and 102”/256m length.

Although Ducks on Silent Waves is a presented as a modular knit there is no seaming involved as you will always use the stitches of the previous module. This pattern includes short rows. You will find photo tutorials on this technique as well as the joining methods. If you prefer other short row methods they can be used as well.

Ducks on Silent Waves is fully reversible. All instructions are given in written and charted form along with graphics to explain the setup. But if you have any questions or feel like you struggle, send me a personal note on Ravelry or an email and I’ll be happy to help you along the way.

You can also join the Funnies Knitters group that Barbara has created for the Dibadu lovers. She was kind enough to devote one thread to Ursa Major Knits designs. So you can ask your questions there as well. We might even do KALs at some point. You are welcome to join us.
