What a wonderous sight to see the wand duel that ensued between our favourite boy wizard and his evil nemesis.
Spells erupted from the tips of their wands, and intertwined as they raced towards each other….
This sweater was designed exclusively for the Red Riding Hood Yarn Winter 2011 Yarn club. It is a stylish, seamless garment for your little wizard, featuring a simple yet effective cable -reminiscent of those spells erupting from two duelling wands.
Duelling Wands is written for RRHY 8ply Superwash wool, and is sized to fit from newborn (37.5cm chest) to 2 years (52.5cm chest). The cable which runs along the sleeve is a very simple cable worked on a reverse stocking stitch sleeve. Instructions for the cable are written, not charted.
The pattern is suited to yarns in solid or semisolid colourways.
Duelling Wands and my Tama pattern are very similar.
Duelling Wands is written for sizes newborn to 2 years, in 8ply/DK weight only, and features the cable along the length of the sleeve. The sleeve is a straight sleeve.
Tama is written for sizes 12 months to 6 years, in 4 yarn weights (8ply/dk weight, 10ply/light worsted weight, 10ply/heavy worsted or aran weight, 12ply/bulky weight), and gives instructions for tapered sleeves.
If an experienced knitter has both patterns in their possession, they could easily combine the two and use aspects from each which appeal to create their ‘perfect’ garment.
For this reason, if you have already purchased one of the patterns through Ravelry and are purchasing the second, the second will automatically be charged at half price (US$2.50) upon checkout for the month of February.
The exclusivity period of this club pattern expired in February 2012, allowing it to go up for public release
