Dunloe is a slouchy hat with an interesting spin on a braided cable incorporated into the design. The braid is set into the hat so it appears that the strands are woven rather than set apart creating a subtle design that does not overwhelm.

This is the perfect hat for someone looking to dabble with cabling. Easy to pick up and put down it also makes a great tv and traveling knit!

Matching fingerless gloves are now available here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dunloe-gloves.

I suggest a solid or semi-solid yarn so the braided cable doesn’t get lost in your yarn.

In general cables tend to shine with a lighter color yarn so they are more noticeable, this is not specific to this particular pattern, just a general observation.

I have had some feedback that the “small” size really fits average sized heads nicely as well and the average may be more appropriately called a large. One tester said knitting the small with a 2 and 3 yielded a hat perfect for her 24” head.
