This 8 inch block crochet pattern consists of the basic block that has a basket sitting on long green grass, plus applique patterns for Easter eggs, a bunny, a duck, a chick and a flower. You get to apply the goodies as you like to your basket so each square is personal & fun. The pattern also includes some basic directions for making the square into a potholder or a granny square (shown).

Written in American terms, the basket square portion is a charted pattern and includes a symbol key so you don’t really need to know how to read charts but it helps. The instructions for the appliques and project ideas are all written out in standard crochet abbreviations. The basic stitches used are:

chain stitch
slip stitch
single crochet
double crochet
treble crochet

Instruction for French knot included for making eyes on animals.
Instruction for how to change colors while crocheting the square is included.
Pattern assumes the crocheter already knows how to hide yarn tails using tapestry needle.
Pattern prints on US standard 8.5 X 11 paper.
