Get your crochet hooks out! There’s still a little over a week until Easter, and these bunny ears for pets work up quickly. If you need a last minute photo prop or Easter gift for your pet loving friends and family, this adorable pattern is just for you.

Some basic things you should know about the pattern before you buy it:

Sizing:

The pattern is written to fit medium-to-large sized dogs. If your dog is small or extra large, there is a section that explains how to take measurements for your pet. You can use the gauge and your measurements to modify the stitch counts accordingly.

Materials:

This pattern uses less than a half a skein of your average worsted weight yarn, which makes it great for using up some left overs you have laying around. BUT it does also require a few materials for the inner ears that you may not have on hand immediately. You don’t absolutely need to have these materials to make the pattern, but I highly recommend them as they will make the ears stand up much better. The materials mentioned in the pattern (other than yarn/crochet hook) are:

  • a darning needle (for sewing in ends and attaching ears)
  • pink felt
  • pipe cleaner or craft wire
  • silicone glue

Construction:

These bunny ears are worked in 3 pieces, so you will need to do just a tiny bit of sewing for the ears. There is also some assembly involved with the wire supports and felt. I did not include any crochet variations for the inner ears. I use felt in my own products and recommend it because the wire and thickness of the felt together help make the ears stand better than crochet centers.

Skill Level:

This pattern is not difficult, and I have included photos to show any areas that I thought might be tricky for beginning crocheters. However, it does involve some sewing and assembly for the ears.

Stitches used:

The pattern is written in US stitch terms. There are no advanced stitches used. You will just need to know the following:
ss - slip stitch
ch - chain
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
tr - treble crochet
