Materials needed

Super Bulky yarn (6) in two colours; I used Wool-Ease Thick & Quick
J/10 – 6.00 mm hook
Tapestry needle

Gauge

2 hdc + 2 rows = 1 inch

Abbreviations

ch = chain
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
bpsc = back post double crochet
fpsc = front post double crochet
st = stitch
sts = stitches
sl st = slip stitch
rnd = round
F/O = fasten off

*Special Instructions**

Cluster stitch: Skip next stitch and 1 dc and 1 sc in next stitch, skip next stitch, 1 dc/1sc in next stitch, repeat.

Back post single crochet: Insert hook into the back of the stitch in the hole just before the post and go through to the next hole so that you are going over the post. Yarn over and pull through both holes, you should have 2 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through both loops.

Back post double crochet: Yarn over and insert hook into the back of the stitch in the hole just before the post and go through to the next hole so that you are going over the post. Yarn over and pull through both holes, you should have 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Front post single crochet: Insert hook in through the front hole just before the post and go through to the next hole so that you are going behind the post. Yarn over and pull through both holes, you should have 2 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through both loops.

Front post double crochet: Yarn over and insert hook in through the front hole just before the post and go through to the next hole so that you are going behind the post. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through 2 loops.

Note: ch 2 does not count as a hdc. When slip stitching to close a round, please sl st into the 1st hdc of the round not the ch 2 space unless instructed otherwise.

Optional* For a looser fitting hat, use a K/10.5 – 6.5 mm hook
