This is an EASY pattern! It is just ONE CROCHETED RECTANGLE! There are two simple pleats and a button that attaches via a chain loop, so you don’t even have to worry about making a button hole -- a SIMPLE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION that creates a VERY unique DRAPE and look. You won’t see another cowl-scarf that looks like this one!

**TERMINOLOGY**

Standard US English ONLY.

**MATERIALS**

• 15 oz / 750 yds worsted weight (medium weight 4) yarn (I used 3 SKEINS LION BRAND YARNS Heartland, color: MOUNT RAINIER);

• Size US J 10 (6.00 mm) crochet hook – or hook size needed to obtain gauge;

• Size 7.00 mm crochet hook – or hook one size larger than hook size needed to obtain gauge (larger hook is for base chain only);

• One large-ish’ button (I used a 29 mm button);

• Safety pins & 1 stitch marker;

• Yarn needle.

**STITCH OVERVIEW**

The cowl-scarf consists primarily of double crochet stitches worked in back loops only. The rows with “holes” consist of dc stitches and chain spaces. The row immediately above these rows consists of dc stitches and some back post dc stitches (bpdc).

**FINISHED MEASUREMENTS**

Cowl-Scarf Rectangle: Width: 16”; length: 52”

When Worn: 18” from top at neck to bottom of V-shape in front; V-shape is approximately 16” at widest point.

This pattern is written for one-size-fits-many, but easy guidelines are given to adjust the size.
