I was totally inspired by Crystal Calhoun’s Fiber Helper/Wrist Distaff pattern, but I wanted something more simple (and less flat knitting), so I made up my own pattern.

The distaff and wrist handle are made in I-Cord, and the stopper is based off Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Pi Shawl (which was a blast to knit up!). The whole thing’s fairly simple, and I include descriptions of all techniques used in the making of the distaff, so if you’re new to knitting I’m hoping you won’t have to go look up what things like “invisible cast on” or “k3tog” mean. Do please drop me a line with any clarifications or what-not you’d like to see!
