This is a light, lacy cowl that has a very easy to remember lace pattern that is broken up by wide garter bands. This project is perfect for a beginner who wants to try lace for the first time, but it is also suitable for those who are advanced beginners and experienced knitters as well. This is great as a quick and easy gift or for making yourself something nice with that small skein of special yarn you bought! This cowl can easily be adjusted to make it longer or shorter if desired by adding multiples of two stitches.

Gauge:
Gauge is 18 stitches and 32 rows per 4 inches knit in pattern (and blocked) in the round (although gauge is not terribly important for this pattern)

Finished dimensions:
Unblocked - 7 inches high and 28 inches around
Blocked - 9 inches high and 36 inches around

Materials:
Yarn: Fingering weight yarn (60 grams OR 300 yards)
Needles and Notions:

  • 3mm (US size 2.5) circular needle or size necessary to achieve gauge.
  • Tapestry (darning) needle
  • Stitch marker (if desired to mark the beginning of your round)
